Well, as it turned out, I only played two hours yesterday, doing cash games at the Venetian. But a hell of a two hours it was.
Got in late last night, jetlagged but I think ready to return. Las Vegas is fun, but a bit surreal.
I made one last effort at playing yesterday before it was time to return the rental car and get to the airport. After winning $50 on a craps table, I went to the Venetian and sat down with $200 at a $2/$5 no-limit cash game. This was my final play, and win or lose would ensure that I would leave with at least $1500.
Arrival in Las Vegas was something of a comedy of very odd errors for me. Woke up at 5am for a 7am flight, took care of some last minute chores, then caught a taxi to the airport. Flight was on time--a direct flight to Las Vegas on Southwest; the only airline that offers them out of here--arriving at 8am local time after a four flight in which I played Ace Attorney: Justice for All on 3DS. And can I how say much I hate the Engarde case...? The Judge is in particularly bad form here, trampling
Not my best day. Things seemed just off from the get-go, as I slept poorly and was making something of a comedy of errors pretty much all day. And yet, I actually showed a slight profit on the day because one of my errors turned golden.
Well, yesterday was the opposite of the first day, though not entirely in a bad way. I bombed in my one tournament entry, the $235 daily deepstack at the WSOP at the Rio. Out in an hour. It was one of those deals where you can literally do no right and all of your hands will inevitably be second-best. It also seems like this there's this one guy who has your number and is always going to beat you, ending up taking all your chips. Such it was here. No hands worth recounting, and I played too
For my last full day in Las Vegas, I sat down for a single playing session... that lasted nearly eleven hours. I played in the $375 deepstack at the new Aria casino resort about a mile south of Harrah's. How did I do? Here's the tournament board when I went out:
